China Grove Bio
China Grove is a top-shelf Doobie Brothers tribute band from the Tampa Bay area, who’s repertoire spans the many decades and styles of the legendary California group. From the kickin’ rock of “China Grove” to the jazzy “Takin’ it to the Streets”, and the bluesy “Dark Eyed Cajun Woman” to the Grammy award winning pop of “What a Fool Believes”, this group blazes through a sizzling set of memory-jarring classic hits and album cuts with stunning accuracy and passion. Let’s just say these guys “bring it”!
Led by vocalist/ guitarist Todd Plant, who fronted a band featuring Doobie Brothers alumni Chet McCracken, the late Cornelius Bumpus and the late Dave Shogren, doing the hits of the Doobies all across America. He’s also worked with members of Chicago, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, & was the voice of Hulk Hogan’s fight song “American Made”.
Bringing serious firepower to the lead guitar arsenal is David Mueller, who is also Todd’s bandmate in Santana tribute band Supernatural, playing “Carlos”!
On Drums is Michael Comparetto, who’s performed and/or recorded with BB King, Toby Keith, Pat Travers, Rick Derringer, & members of Firefall, the Outlaws, Molly Hatchett, Savoy Brown, and was a session drummer at Miami’s Criterion Studios.
On bass is the incredible Allen Carman who toured with Plant in former Doobie Chet McCracken’s band and has also worked with members of Firefall and many other classic rock artists.
Rounding out the China Grove lineup is stellar Hammond B3 and synthesizer player Rick Curran.
So lock up the liquor cabinet and tie down the storm door ‘cause the China Grove tornado is headed for your town!
